Brother and Sister

"To the outside world we all grow old. But not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each other's hearts. We share private family jokes. We remember family feuds and secrets, family griefs and joys. We live outside the touch of time. "

After Naps

This is Jack after his nap

This is Jack and Lily after naps. At Jack's request, I put Lily in his bed when she woke up.

Hug Sneak Attack

This week has been a particularly challenging week. It's felt like the winter won't quit. We had more doctor appointments, many tantrums, and dwindling patience levels. I'm going to look at this picture every time I start to get stressed out. The sun came out today. You can see it shining down on those faces. It will be great to be able to get outside again and breathe in the fresh air. I can't wait to take walks on snow-free sidewalks! We're waiting for you Spring.

Mustard

Jack has been a little more adventurous lately with his meals. The other day he said he wanted mustard on his hot dog. Don't worry bud, I make that same face every time I taste peas or olives or black coffee. Of course we offered this, "It'll put hair on your chest."

Sleeping Beauty

On Friday I took Lily in to the doctor for a follow up on an ear infection. She had been running a fever and was congested. The doctor had a hard time listening to her due to all the fluid and sent us for chest xrays to rule out pneumonia. Thankfully the xrays were clear. In the meantime, the fever is gone but the congestion remains. She woke up at 4 this morning and would not go back to sleep despite our best efforts. I knew she was exhausted but she couldn't get comfortable. I think part of the problem is that she sucks her thumb--which makes it even more difficult to breathe when you can't breathe through your nose.

Anyway, she fell asleep after a very early breakfast (see the cheerios resting beneath her chin). She looked so peaceful.

Self Portraits with Mom

Hey, I blow dryed AND flat ironed my hair that day. That calls for some self portraits. Check out my scarf from Afghanistan. Thanks Kev. Dave still hasn't worn his yet? I have no idea why.

Hanging with Dad

I really need to get a video of when Dave comes home. Both kids get excited but Lily goes nuts. She runs and starts yelling, "DADA! Hi DADA!" Then lately, she is so overwhelmed with joy that she has to stop and bend over to catch her breath.
