This Week's Game

Apparently the Bills like fourth quarters. They pulled out a win again this week but not without drama. Jack watched the game with us and would start cheering when we did. He also said a choice word yesterday when the Bills weren't playing so great. Oops. It's true they repeat whatever they hear! Oh, and about the lack of shirt...I think the game must have been so exciting that he kept tearing it off.

What Are They Watching?

Election commentary? The latest financial news? The weather report?

Nope. The Buffalo Bills Game. The game this past weekend was a little stressful to watch. The Bills played poorly until the last quarter and then rallied. This picture makes me laugh because everyone looks so somber. Let's hope this Sunday the team starts off on a better note.

Congrats Student Dr. Bridgie

Yesterday Bridget found out she made Senior AOA! For those of us who are not in Medical School this means she was selected to be in the National Honor Society for Medical Students--Alpha Omega Alpha. This is quite an honor. The info below describes the process a little more in depth. I'm a proud sister. It seems like just yesterday she was refusing to take off that Annie dress. We've always known what a talent she is but it's nice to know that others are recognizing it too! Congratulations. You've come a long way!

In order to meet the minimum requirements of the national society, students must be in the top 15% of their class academically, and possess leadership and community service attributes. Academic activities such as research, performance in clerkships and electives and extracurricular program participation are generally included in

Cookie Monster Cake

What child doesn't like cookies, right? Well, Jack is no exception. He LOVES cookies. And I admit, I indulge his cookie passion more than I should. In fact, a couple times now when I've driven by a Starbucks, Jack starts yelling, "A Cookie! A Cookie!" Hmmm. It must be he realizes when mommy orders her tall-nonfat-chai-tea that he also gets a treat. At any rate, a cookie monster cake seemed only fitting for his second birthday. Plus, I'm getting sick of Elmo (although unfortunately he is not). I'm sure if Atticus Daniels was here the two of them would have broken out into song..."C is for Cookie!"

As a side note, I'm available for birthday parties, weddings, corporate gatherings and graduations.

Strong Museum

One of Rochester's true gems is the Children's Museum at Strong. This place is amazing. It has a mini Wegmans, a Sesame Street wing, a children's library, a science wing and this weekend, a large Curious George exhibit. That's just the first floor! While Jack was a little spooked by the life sized Curious George, he did love the Sesame Street exhibit.

Becker Farms

On Friday we went to Becker Farms and picked apples. It was a beautiful sunny day. Jack got a kick out of seeing the farm animals. As you can see in the pictures, he wasn't too shy about going up to the horses and goats. The goats would tilt their heads and squeeze through the fence posts. Jack liked that idea and tried to do it himself. AHHH! We picked alot of apples and bought some pumpkins. I was disappointed that the cider/doughnut area was closed. I feel like, to quote Clark Griswold, "it's all part of the experience." Oh well--next time. Fall is officially here!

Happy Birthday Jack and Kate!

Both Jack and Kate celebrate birthdays today. September 19th is a sweet day. It's hard for me to believe Jack is 2 years old. Where has the time gone? It seems like just yesterday David and I were fastening him into his carseat for the very first time. Now he tries to fasten himself. On a similar note, it feels like just yesterday Kate was graduating from high school! Now she's living in Manhattan and working at one of the premier medical institutions in the world.

Gift of Gab

Our son has become quite the chatty Cathy lately. He always likes to pretend he's on the phone. It's funny to watch becomes sometimes his conversations are quite passionate. Even the doctor commented on how loquacious (three point word) he was this weekend. He's still under the weather but well enough to chat and point out letters and sing songs and talk about diapers. Maybe he'll take after his dad and be a litigator when he grows up.

The Best Cure...

Jack has been sick the past couple days (you can probably tell in these shots). He had a fever over the weekend and was congested. He didn't sleep very much on Saturday night so he's still trying to catch up. Today when he woke up from his nap he was a little cranky but I knew exactly what would cheer him up. The mail had arrived and there was a package from Nicole and Kevin. I know it's not his birthday yet but I couldn't resist letting him open a few things. Airplanes, cell phones and sesame street...OH MY!

Daddy's Home!

The other day, throughout the day, Jack would look over at me and say, "Daddy's home!" David wasn't home but for some reason Jack got a kick out of trying to pull one over on his dear old mom. Anyway, Jack really does get so excited when his dad comes in the doorway. I give David so much credit because no matter how stressful or tiring a day he's had, he still always has time to play with Jack. I love the shots below.

As a side note, when my dad was here a few weeks ago Jack got the biggest kick out of "honking" his nose. Apparently he's moved on and is now interested in his father's ears.

Jack had a good old time with Kate. He was like her little shadow and just wanted to be near her. On Saturday morning he was sitting in the kitchen and he started listing his immediate circle--"Mommy, and daddy and Maggie and Nosey and Kate." Then he looked at Matt and said, "and Maggie." He did eventually say Matt but it made us laugh.

Just One of the Guys...

We had an eventful week. Jack loves visitors and was particularly taken with his aunt and uncle. He's not one to shy away from the action. Matt got in late Thursday night and Jack didn't know he was here. On Friday morning he (Jack) was running around the living room and all of the sudden I saw him stop with a big grin on his face. He was kind of craning his neck and then I figured Matt must be in the hallway. Can you tell Jack doesn't want to miss a moment?! Also, note the coordinating outfits. More to come...

Congrats to Mr. and Mrs. Matheson

Nicole and Chris got married this weekend. It was such a beautiful day! We were thrilled to be a part of it. Below are some pics.
