On the inside jacket of his bestselling book, Big Russ & Me, Tim Russert wrote, "I hope this book will encourage readers to think about the things they learned from their father. Whatever we achieve and whoever we are, we stand on their shoulders.”

A shot of my dad and I from my wedding. I love that we're not posed.

David and his dad on our wedding day. What strikes me is that they both look proud in this picture (of one another).

David's grandfather - Abe. This is such a beautiful shot. He looks so content and that's how I always remember him. I don't think I ever heard anything negative come out of his mouth!

My Grandpa Ted and Jack at my brother's wedding. I am so happy he was able to meet Jack.

One of my favorite shots of my Grandpa Bill and us. He's using his hands in this picture to explain something and I can't help but notice the resemblance between his big hands and Jack's big hands. I also love the duct tape in the corner.

Unfortunately I don't have a picture of Dave's paternal grandfather to include but he is also in our thoughts. Happy Father's Day everyone!

What a really great series of photos. I think this is my favorite post of yours so far. I can see parts of Jack that go back for generations.

That was an awesome little bowl cut you were sporting, by the way. I think at that same point in time I was also looking really jazzy in my too-rad-for-words Dorothy Hamill hairdo. We should have gotten together - I would have brought my Megan and Sundance My Little Pony set, you could have brought your Cabbage Patch twins. We could have made Shrinky Dinks and watched The Littles. It would have rocked.
