A Taste of Spring

You wouldn't guess this morning that last week we had a couple days that reached into the high fifties. We have been aching for some spring like weather around here. On St. Patrick's Day we were able to go outside finally and take a nice walk. The kids were thrilled. It was a bit of a tease since we got hit with snow yesterday. Oh well.

Here's a taste of things to come...

If you look closely you can see the little buds in the background!

They're hidden under all those leaves.

Top O' The Mornin' From The Archers

Leprechaun Jack (Wish this was better quality, but you get the idea)

Our dainty singer. She sounds like a drunken sailor in the beginning part. And, I'll warn you that I come in really loud at one point. Hah. Happy St. Patrick's day!

Happy 60th Mom!

My mom had a big birthday last week. We celebrated on Sunday and were thrilled that we had two special visitors from North Carolina. It was a nice morning and the kids, especially, were excited to be around Grandma and celebrate her birthday. Colin sang the sweetest rendition of "Happy Birthday." And Lily made sure to eat some chocolates in honor of the special occasion. :) Happy birthday Mom. Here's to a happy and healthy year ahead!

This picture is hysterical. We tried to get a nice picture but instead got this outtake. Oh well. I think it's sweet with all the different faces!

Long Night

Yesterday we had to take Lily to the ER because she swallowed a magnet. The good news is that she is fine and hopefully will be fine. There was only one magnet (after taking the x-ray) which was also good news. I had no idea how grave swallowing magnets can be. I had recently bought a magnetic board for a chores chart. It came with these tiny magnetic stars. Lily put one in her mouth the other night and ended up swallowing one. I don't think it was intentional. They're just so small. Thankfully I just happened to mention that she swallowed the magnet when I was talking to Maureen. Maureen told me to call our doctor right away and our doctor in turn, told us to go Strong immediately. It makes me angry that they'd even manufacture a chart like that for kids. Oh well. I'm glad she's ok. David took her to Strong and I stayed back with Jack. At around one in the morning Lily was really wired. The nurse came in and gave her a popsicle. Lily kicked back on the chair and said to David, "This is the life!" Our little optimist. I had taken these pictures yesterday when she woke up from her nap. Her hair is so curly when she wakes up. It's just so cute. Love this little munchkin!!!

New Floors

Here are some before and after pictures of our floors. A series of events and sicknesses sped up our decision to replace the carpeting in the family room. It wasn't very practical to have white carpeting with kids. It also wasn't great that our deck door lead right into the white floor. We were fortunate to be able to get new floors (thank you taxes) and it was a crazy, whirlwind experience.

Here is the land of beige before the carpets were removed. I know the carpets don't look too bad in these shots but there were some pretty noticeable stains and also, the carpet had turned more of a beige/grey:

Yes, We're Still Playing in the Snow

We got socked with snow this past Friday. Dave took the kids out on Saturday to play and make snowmen. It was actually a perfect day to play in the snow. The weather had warmed up (well Rochester's definition of "warmed") and the snow was perfect for making snowballs. The kids had fun being outside too. We've been cooped up way too long.

Jack loves throwing snowballs at his dad.

I was happy to see Jack making his own snowball. One time when we went out the snow was just too powdery and he got so frustrated that he couldn't make a snowman. This time the conditions were just right!
