Overheard at Our House This Morning...

I'm not feeling well and have some sort of cough/sneeze misery combination. Anyway, Jack says, "Mom, don't worry. I will take care of you. I'm really good at taking care of people. I love you mom." Then he went and got me tissues and rubbed my back and told me to lie on the couch. And as a bonus, "I'll take care of Lil too."

Two Years Old

Our lovely Lily turned two this weekend. She is growing up much too quickly. She makes us smile every day especially when she starts her morning yelling, "Mommy, help! Daddy, help!" At two, she knows how to get a reaction!. I love her little voice, her readiness (and eagerness) to burst into song at any moment, her love of shoes, her adoration for her brother, her curiosity and her laugh. I also love that she is (as the book from Brian and Bridget states) Little Miss Bossy. She is not going to sit back and let life pass her by or her brother, for that matter. I really want to get some video of her singing so I can post soon but in the meantime here is Lillian Patricia Archer just shy of her 2nd birthday.

Saturday Trip to Geneseo

She loves her Uncle Matt.

I think Lacey should add a conductor's hat to her wardrobe rotation! Jack was anxious to play with the new train Uncle Matt gave him and directed Lacey to be his conductor.

Matt and Lacey got the royal treatment. They got to ride in the back of the Dodge on the way down to Geneseo...nothing but the best!

I was going to say this is Lily's first college visit but she's also been to Cornell. You can't start too early these days.

I had some communication classes in this building. One of my favorite classes was Intro to Comedy where we watched "Top Secret" and I wrote a paper on "Christmas Vacation." Money well spent. Jules, didn't you take that class with me?

I don't remember that Dr. Seuss pine tree being there when I went to school.

Running around the Quad

We did the major sightseeing tour on our quick trip to Geneseo. We visited the IB, the union, drove by the old RLK house, the hockey house, the Statesman (or as I like to call it, the place where we met with our old el camino-driving-landlord to pay rent), the Ward Street house (Dommer), Mia's, the ice arena, the quad and Main Street. I hadn't been back in at least 8 years. Good times. Maybe Lily or Jack will go there one day...crazy to think about.

Halloween at Harter Secrest

Yesterday we went to the annual trick-or-treat festivities at Harter Secrest. We got to see David's Rochester office for the first time. The pictures of his view don't do it justice. It's amazing. You can see all of Rochester...the river, the cornhill area, kodak, that weird revolving restaurant building where I had my junior prom. Anyway, it was way cool. The kids loved running around and getting candy. Somewhere in the midst of the production Lily realized she loved yelling, "TRICK OR TREAT!!!" She would run up to an office and yell at the top of her lungs. I think people got a kick out of it. I got a kick out of big brother Jack rationing candy...and telling his sister, "Lil, you can have just one." He's the voice of reason. Here are some pics. Happy Friday! Chase Farms

A couple weeks back I went with Jack and his class to Chase Farms. The kids were excited to pick their own pumpkins and run through the corn maze. But during the trip a tsunami swarmed through Chase Farms. It was a cold, wet, muddy adventure. Had I been wearing some type of head gear to shield me from said tsunami, I might have enjoyed myself a little more. I kept waiting for the other parents to say, "Hey, this is really cold and rainy...I don't want the kids to get sick...let's go back to school." Nobody did though. I guess the important part is that Jack had fun. He got to feed a goat, run through a muddy maze to find an apple, and sit next to his whiny mom on the wet wagon. I can't wait for the field trip to the Del Monte Lodge and Spa.

In the corn maze with his apple and very happy. Too bad I didn't get a shot of when he dropped the apple moments later in the mud. No worries..he just ran back and got another one.
