SNOW! It's hard to believe December 1st marks the first measurable snowfall in Buffalo. Every time it snows, this song runs through my head. This is how I'm wired I guess (I love musicals). The best part of this song, and I think my sister will agree, is the hand percussion that Danny Kaye adds. That's close to the end though so you have to watch most of the clip to catch it. :)
Jack was so excited by the snow. He wanted us to get him boots so he could go out and make a snowman at 5:45 AM. He kept checking the window.

Ha! I knew exactly what you were talking about. I love that Danny Kaye. I'm so glad that you and Bridget share my love of musicals.
Don't worry Jack. You'll get out to romp in the snow in no time. Besides, you'll probaby have a loooonnnggg snowy winter ahead. We are so excited for this first fallen snow, but I'm sure by February we'll be all ready for spring!
I love this musical too, even if Rosemary Clooney IS kind of busted. All I can picture is George when I see her. Did you know that White Christmas is considered the best selling single of all time? And that Bing Crosby didn't even really care all that much for the song? And that originally he isn't even the person who was slated to sing it in the movie? That's amazing considering how popular the song is and how strongly he is associated with it.
I love, love, love that photo of Jack looking out at the lawn. It's just gorgeous, and captures everything that is wonderful about having kids this age at Christmastime. Atticus keeps asking me when it's going to snow, but who knows? I hope we get some at least in time for Christmas. Green Christmases just are not the same--I don't know how southerners do it.
BTW--why would anyone want to wash their hair with snow? Skiing? Sure. Build a snowman? Okay, awesome, especially if you've got a corn-cob pipe and two pieces of coal for the eyes laying around. "Dig it with a spade"? Even that's okay until your back gives out. But wash your hair with snow? Who wrote this song, Berlin? He couldn't have found a way to work snowball fights or catching snowflakes on your tongue into this song as opposed to bathing with it?
That Danny Kaye. If you really think about it, it was a strange cast. Bing is looking a little long in the tooth to be thinking about starting a family. Oh well, I love it. I love the photos, too!
You know I love me some Danny Kaye!! :) Cute pics- glad you guys are getting into the spirit of the season!! No snow here yet- lol.
